League of Legends - Akali Guide

Posted by Jindooo on Freitag, November 04, 2011

There exists an ancient order originating in the Ionian Isles dedicated to the preservation of balance. Order, chaos, light, darkness -- all things must exist in perfect harmony for such is the way of the universe. This order is known as the Kinkou and it employs a triumvirate of shadow warriors to uphold its causes in the world. Akali is one of these shadow warriors, entrusted with the sacred duty of Pruning the Tree eliminating those who threaten the equilibrium of Valoran.

A prodigal martial artist, Akali began training with her mother as soon as she could make a fist. Her mother's discipline was relentless and unforgiving, but predicated on the fundamental principle: "We do that which must be done." When the Kinkou inducted her into the order at the age of fourteen, she could slice a dangling chain with a chop of her hand. There was no question she would succeed her mother as the Fist of Shadow. She has had to do much in this role which others might find morally questionable, but to her it is in service of her mother's inviolable doctrine. She now works with her fellows Shen and Kennen to enforce the balance of Valoran. This hallowed pursuit has unsurprisingly led the triumvirate to the Fields of Justice.

"The Fist of Shadow strikes from the cover of death itself. Do not impede the balance."
  •   1. Introduction
You might be thinking, will this shitty guide help me?

    Well, yes. It fucking will.
Why am I so sure? Is what you might stop to ask. Well here's why; my guide won't tell you stupid shit like hp regeneration quints, dodge seals or all flat AP marks, seals and glyphs. I will tell you how to play Akali in AT LEAST a level capable of playing well in gold elo.

So yea. Stop reading that other shitty guide that tells you to start doran's blade and rush sheen, and read this one. Or stay bad. Your choice.

  •   2. Masterys and Runes

    Grab Ignite Mastery
Enable Akali's passives through 3 AD from Brute Force and .6 AP at level 1 from Archmage's Savvy.
Maximize penetration through Archaic Knowledge and Sunder.

Note; As long as you maintain both 3 points in Brute Force and Archmage's Savvy, you can change your masteries to however you please.

    For runes you'll need the following;

    7x Greater Mark of Strength
    2x Greater Mark of Insight
    9x Greater Seal of Vitality
    5x Greater Glyph of Force
    4x Greater Glyph of Potency
    3x Greater Quintessence of Potency

This is rune set up is catered to getting Akali's passives through it and masteries allowing for any item start to maximize the flexibility in starting items.

Note: Seals are completely preference, one can run ANYTHING on seals, though scaling HP is generally considered best in slot for Akali, anything can be run. Also, the two magic penetration marks can be replaced with anything as well. Like the seals though, the two magic penetration marks are considered best in slot as well.
A common replacement for scaling HP seals are these babies:
    Greater Seal of Resilience

This is mostly due to the fact that Akali often prefers solo top and most of the common top laners are AD. Combined with the fact that she gets a giant's belt early on, armor seals are fantastic.

Done correctly, it should look like this.

  •   3. Abilities
    Twin Disciplines
    Free. Fucking. Stats.

    Key things to note:
Spell vamp passive at 9.5 AD.
Extra damage passive at 19.5 AP.

    Mark of the Assassin
Bread and butter. Useful for everything. Max this by 9. Can double proc this (explained later).

    Twilight Shroud
Free defensive stats within shroud, stealth removes arggo. Real important to note that projectiles will not be disjointed by the stealth and that non targeting skills such as AoEs can still hit you if you are hit.

    Crescent Slash
High energy costs make this useful only in bursting down single targets or farming. Still, a vital part of the burst cycle.

    Shadow Dance
Why people don't like Akali. Long range single target dash that applies the 35% slow from Rylais. Useful for killing and for escaping.

Generally though, Ignite Flash is just preferred set up of many top Akali players for a reason; it can secure kills in lane that really make Akali a dominant laner.

  •   8. Unique Skills
Akali's Q marks a target for 6 seconds. It's cooldown is also 6 seconds and eventually decreases down to 4 seconds. This leads into an explanation of Akali's basic burst technique.

    Q -> Wait for CD -> R -> Autoattack -> Q -> Autoattack

This is a classic double Q burst combo. After said combo, two choices remain. Stick to target and go for a kill or use R on a minion to flee. Fuck detail. Learn to read the situation, you dumbfuck.

  •   9. Farming
Learn to last hit with autoattacks. Akali has a pretty generous amount of damage because of additional damage through her passive. If you honestly can't do it, uninstall.

Also, when using Q to last hit, note that you will only get energy back when the mark is proc'd via autoattack. Last hitting at a range with just Q will run your energy dry so weigh the options carefully.
  •   2. Masteries + Runes Masteries consist of a 21/0/9; specifically catered to do some key things.
